Mickey Rourke to star in Vidhu Vinod Chopra 'Broken Horses'



The Oscar nominated actor Mickey Rourke of ‘The Wrestler’ fame is in talks to star in Bollywood director Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Hollywood debut film "Broken Horses". He is one of India's best-known filmmakers. Rourke will play the one of the key roles in this film. Reliance Big Pictures is producing the film.

The film ‘Broken Horses’ is touted as a gangster flick and is Chopra's original story, is the work of award-winning writer Abhijat Joshi ('Lage Raho Munnabhai', 'Eklavya') and script consultant Jason Richman ('Bangkok Dangerous', 'Swing Vote'). Mark Johnson ('Chronicles of Narnia', 'The Notebook' and 'Rain Man') is the executive producer of the film, while Chris Buchinsky ('Hancock', 'Spiderman 2') is the story-board artist. The film is expected to be shot across New Mexico, New York and Albuquerque.

Rourke’s upcoming films include "13” and Sylvester Stallone "The Expendables".

‘Slumdog Millionaire's Simon Beaufoy to write 'Leap Year'


Simon Beaufoy is set to write Spyglass Entertainment's upcoming comedy film "Leap Year". Recently, Beaufoy won a Golden Globe award and got nominated for an Oscar for his acclaimed screenplay for "Slumdog Millionaire". His writing credits include "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day" and "The Full Monty," for which he also received an Oscar nomination in 1998.

The film 'Leap Year' stars Amy Adams in the lead role. Anand Tucker of “And When Did You Last See Your Father?” is going to direct the film.

The film 'Leap Year' is about a young woman who travels to Dublin to propose to her boyfriend on leap day, Feb. 29. Tradition says men have to say yes on that day. But when bad weather threatens to ruin her plan, she embarks on a turbulent trip with an Irish innkeeper to pull off her proposal before it’s too late.

Fassbender, Dominic West, Olga Kurylenko in Neil Marshall's 'Centurion'


Michael Fassbender, Dominic West and Olga Kurylenko have signed on to star in British writer/director Neil Marshall's upcoming action adventure ‘Centurion’. Marshall's directing films also include ‘Dog Soliders’, ‘The Descent’ and ‘Doomsday’.

The film is touted as a thriller set during the Roman invasion of Britain in A.D. 117, tells the story of Quintus Dias, sole survivor of a Pictish raid on a Roman frontier fort, who marches north with General Virilus' legendary Ninth Legion, under orders to wipe the Picts from the face of the Earth and destroy their leader, Gorlacon.

Michael Fassbender films include in "300", “Hunger”. He will be next seen in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" and Peter Webber's "Wuhtering Heights".

As for Dominic West, his credits include 300, Hannibal Rising, and Punisher: War Zone. Olga Kurylenko starred in "Hitman," "Max Payne" and "Quantum of Solace".

20th Century Fox to produce ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader’


20th Century Fox has decided to co-produce "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader", the third installment of the "Chronicles of Narnia" series with Walden Media. The film is expected to start at end of summer 2009. The flick is based on the best selling novel of the same name by C.S. Lewis.

Fox and Walden will split costs, and it may take around $140 million to produce "Dawn Treader." In comparison, "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" cost more than $200 million to make.

It is known that both Fox and Walden will split the film's production and P&A costs, are still working out the approval of final script as well as the shooting budget, which are reportedly much lower than the $225 million budget of "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian".

"Caspian" opened last year and collects $419 million worldwide. "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," the first film in the series has collected $718 million.

Michael Apted is set to direct the film. Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley back as Prince Caspian, Edmund and Lucy. Will Poulter will also join the cast as Eustace Clarence Scrubb.

Keira Knightley, Colin Farrell to star in 'London Boulevard'


Keira Knightley and Colin Farrell are set star in a film tilted "London Boulevard" in the direction William Monahan. His writing credits include "Kingdom of Heaven", "The Departed", "Body of Lies" and "Boulevard". The film is based on the best selling novel "London Boulevard” by Irish author Ken Bruen.

The film is about a London criminal, who after releasing from prison, tries to give up the gangster life by becoming a handyman for an isolated young actress. The shooting of the flick will be started this summer in London.

Recently, Farrell has won a Golden Globe Award for his stellar performance in "In Bruges". His upcoming films include "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus," "Triage" and "Crazy Heart".

Knightley was last seen in the film "The Duchess". She will be next seen in ‘Last Night’ and ‘The Beautiful and the Damned’.

Jamie Bell, Daniel Craig to star in Steven Spielberg's ‘Tintin’


Paramount Pictures and Sony Pictures have finally made an official announcement to start the production of Steven Spielberg’s upcoming 3D motion capture film ‘The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn’.

Jamie Bell will act as Tintin, while Daniel Craig will play the role of despicable Red Rackham, a pirate who attacks Haddock's ship The Unicorn. The film is also starring Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Gad Elmaleh, Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook.

The script was written by Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish. Peter Jackson, director of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, will produce the Tintin movie and he is set to direct the second flick in the upcoming series.

Bell's credits include "Billy Elliot", "King Kong" and "Jumper". He is currently working with Daniel Craig in "Defiance".

Neil Jordan to direct 'Graveyard Book'


Oscar winning director Neil Jordan is going to direct the big-screen adaptation of Neil Gaiman's best selling novel "The Graveyard Book". He is also the co-writer of "MirrorMask" and "Beowulf".

Gaiman made the announcement on "The Today Show" during his press tour for ‘Coraline’, another one of his books to make the move to the silver screen. He said the film will be live-action one. Framestore, an FX production company of London, which recently worked for the film ‘Australia’, is going to work on effects for this flick.

‘The Graveyard Book’ is about a boy who is adopted by the occupants of a graveyard after the death of his parents.

Jordan’s directing films include "The Crying Game", "Interview with the Vampire" and "The Brave One." He also won the Oscar for best original screenplay for "The Crying Game”. Jordan is also currently working on "Ondine", starring Colin Farrell, a fantasy drama about a fisherman who discovers a mysterious woman in his fishing net.

Sylvester Stallone’s first look in ‘The Expendables'


This is the first look of SYLVESTER STALLONE in his upcoming action flick "The Expendables". The 62-year-old actor star showed off his ripped tattooed body during filming on his latest film The Expendables.

The film is also starring JASON STATHAM, JET LI and Golden Globe winner MICKEY ROURKE to play a group of mercenaries recruited to overthrow a South American dictator.

The film is about a group of mercenaries who infiltrate a South American country to overthrow its dictator and free the population. The film is part of a two-picture deal Stallone is making the film with Nu Image/Millennium Films. Sylvester Stallone is directing the film.

“SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE” bags 10 Oscar nominations


‘Slumdog Millionaire’ has bagged 10 (Academy Awards) Oscar nominations while ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ leads Oscars with 13 nominations. ‘Slumdog’ film was directed by Danny Boyle and is an adaptation of Indian diplomat Vikas Swarups's novel ‘Q&A’. Christian Colson has produced the film on Celador Films Production banner.

AR Rahman and Resul Pookutty have won a total of four nominations. Rahman has won total three nominations for Best Original Score and Best Original Songs, Resul has bagged one in the Sound Mixing category for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.

Bollywood's well-known lyricist Gulzar has been jointly nominated with Rahman for the song 'Jai Ho'. And it was a dream come true for another Indian lyricist Maya Arulpragasam who won a joint nomination with Rahman for ‘O saya’.

On Thursday morning, January 22, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have announced the nominees for the 81st Annual Academy Awards (Oscar),. Declared by Academy president Sid Ganis and Academy Award-winner Forest Whitaker at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, the nominations were dominated by "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button".

The 81st Annual Academy Awards ceremony will be held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California on Sunday, 22nd February, 2009. The ceremony will be aired live on ABC starting at 8 PM. Hugh Jackman will be seen hosting the awards and the same will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide. The show will be produced by Laurence Mark and Bill Condon, the men behind the Oscar-winning musical "Dreamgirls".

The nominations were dominated by David Fincher's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" with 13 nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actress for Taraji P. Henson and Best Leading Actor for Brad Pitt. It was followed by "Slumdog Millionaire", "The Dark Knight" and "Milk". Danny Boyle's "Slumdog" has bagged 10 nominations by the Academy.

'Tom and Jerry’ heading to the silver screen


The world’s most favorite CG characters ‘Tom and Jerry’ is going to attack the big screen. Hollywood studio major Warner Bros. is planning to make a movie with the two cartoon characters cat and mouse.

Dan Lin will produce "Tom and Jerry" through his Lin Pictures and Jon Silk will co-produce it. Eric Gravning is set to write the script for this film.

The movie is said to be the "origin story that reveals how Tom and Jerry first meet and form their rivalry before getting lost in Chicago and reluctantly working together during an arduous journey home."

Prior to "Tom and Jerry", Warner Bros. have developed several of other Hanna-Barbera's popular animated series for big screen, including "The Jetsons" and "Yogi Bear", ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks", “Garfield: The Movie". The studio have also successfully made "Scooby-Doo" into a live-action franchise with "Scooby-Doo" in 2002 and "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed" in 2004.

Tom and Jerry deemed as the masterwork of American animation industry, was a series of 114 animated shorts created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera between 1940 and 1960 for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. It has won seven Academy Awards for Best Short topic. In 1992, Warner Bros. have released a feature-length version of the series tilted "Tom and Jerry: The Movie".

Roman Polanski’s 'The Ghost' to start in February 2009


After nearly two decades, Oscar winning filmmaker Roman Polanski is finally get back to directing with a modern political thriller film titled ‘The Ghost’. He last directed the flick ‘Oliver Twist’. The shooting ‘The Ghost’ is going to start on February 4th, 2009 in Germany. The film is based on best-selling book ‘The Ghost’ by Robert Harris.

The flick is starring a powerhouse cast of Ewan McGregor, Pierce Brosnan, Kim Cattrall, Tom Wilkinson, Jim Belushi, and Olivia Williams.

The film is about a ghostwriter who is hired to complete the memoirs of a former British prime minister. He uncovers secrets that put his own life in jeopardy. Pierce Brosnan is playing the character of British Prime Minister Adam Lang and McGregor as ghostwriter.

Robert Benmussa and Alain Sarde will produce the film. Summit International, which has a long-standing relationship with Polanski and the producers, will represent worldwide rights to the film.

Polanski said: "I have been looking for a political thriller to direct for some time, and 'The Ghost' could not be more perfect. Robert has constructed a novel with such suspense; it is hard to put it down."

Robert Harris said that: “The story takes place in an oceanfront house during the middle of winter”.

Katie Holmes, Kevin Kline, Paul Dano and John C. Reilly to star in ‘The Extra Man’


Kevin Kline, Paul Dano, Katie Holmes and John C. Reilly have agreed to star in a new comedy film titled "The Extra Man". Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini are set to directing this film. The duo's directing credits include "The Nanny Diaries" and "American Splendor". The flick is based on the best selling novel ‘The Extra Man’ by Jonathan Ames. The film will start its production this February 2009 in New York.

The film is about a failed playwright who works as an escort for rich widows on the Upper East Side. He then forms a mentor-student relationship with a troubled aspiring playwright

Kevin Kline will be star as a failed playwright and he was last seen in the film "Definitely, Maybe". Paul Dano is playing as troubled and aspiring playwright.

1. Dawn of the Dead
Dawn of the Dead is a 2004 horror remake of George A. Romero's 1978 film of the same name. The remake and original both depict a handful of human survivors living in a shopping mall surrounded by swarms of zombies, but the details differ significantly. Directed by Zack Snyder, the film was produced by Strike Entertainment.

2. The Fly
The Fly is a science fiction horror film released in 1986 directed by David Cronenberg. The flick stars Jeff Goldblum, Geena Davis and John Getz. It is a remake of the 1958 film of the same name.


3. Cape Fear
Cape Fear is a 1991 thriller film, directed by Martin Scorsese. It is a remake of the 1962 film of the same name. the movie is about a family man, a former public defender, whose family is threatened by a convicted rapist who wants vengeance for having been imprisoned for 14 years because of the lawyer's purposefully faulty defense tactics, prejudicing the accused.

4. Bram Stoker's Dracula
Dracula is a 1992 horror-romance film produced and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, based on the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker.

5. The Ring
The Ring is 2002 American remake of the 1998 Japanese horror film of the same name (also known as Ringu). It is based on the novel ‘The Ring’ by Kôji Suzuki. It was directed by Gore Verbinski and stars Naomi Watts and Martin Henderson.

6. The Mummy
The Mummy is a 1999 adventure film written and directed by Stephen Sommers. The movie stars Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, and Arnold Vosloo as the reanimated mummy. It is a loose remake of the 1932 film of the same name which starred Boris Karloff in the lead role.

7. Halloween
Halloween is a 2007 remake of the 1978 slasher film of the same name. The film was written, produced, and directed by Rob Zombie. The film stars Malcolm McDowell, Tyler Mane, Scout Taylor-Compton, and Daeg Faerch.

Keanu Reeves to star as Spike Spiegel in 'Cowboy Bebop'


‘Matrix’ hero Keanu Reeves is going to star as Spike Spiegel, a bounty hunter and former member of a crime syndicate in a film titled 'Cowboy Bebop'. Recently he acted in the sci-fi film "The Day the Earth Stood Still”. 'Cowboy Bebop' is a Japanese classic anime TV series and 20th Century Fox is set to produce the flick. The script was written by Peter Craig.

The movie is set in the time 2071 and the story follows the adventure of a crew of bounty hunters traveling around the universe in the year 2071 through the spaceship Bebop.

Speaking to media Keanu Reeves said: “It's got so much style to it, and that's part of its appeal. That kind of Old West, border town, low-tech science fiction aspect. It’s got a Western quality, a Western film noir aspect to it".

Brendan Fraser’s fantasy-adventure ‘Inkheart’


‘Inkheart’, a fantasy film starring Brendan Fraser and Eliza Bennett in the lead roles is directed by Iain Softley. It is based on the German novel of the same name by Cornelia Funke and written by David Lindsay-Abaire. The flick also features Paul Bettany, Jim Broadbent, Helen Mirren, Andy Serkis and others. Javier Navarrete has scored the music for this film.

The movie about a 12-year-old Meggie Folchart, a daughter of a gifted man named Mortimer "Mo" Folchart (Brendan Fraser). When Mo's ability to bring characters from books to life by reading the books distinctly causes him to be kidnapped by a fable book's villain, it is left to Meggie to save him, putting her in a magical adventure that she has only read about in books.

13nude photos of Madonna, When she was 20-years-old

A 30-year-old nude picture of pop diva Madonna, taken when she was a 20-year-old dancer in New York in 1979, is likely to sell for at least $10,000 at Christie's auction house in New York on February 12th, 2009. The full frontal image was appeared in Playboy in 1985.

Madonna received $25 in payment for the modeling session. The full frontal image was taken by Lee Friedlander.

Matthieu Humery, head of Christie's photography department said: “Six photos from the shoot were sold to Playboy, though the one going on sale is "maybe the most explicit one".

Another photo of Madonna, by Helmut Newton, is also in the auction. In that shot, she is wearing lingerie, which is expected to fetch up to $15,000.

WWE Superstar John Cena’s '12 Rounds'


‘12 Rounds’, a high speed action thriller film starring WWE professional wrestler John Cena in the lead role is directed by Renny Harlin of "Die Hard 2”, "Cliffhanger" and "The Long Kiss Goodnight” fame. Emily Blunt to play Black Widow in 'Iron Man 2'!


Emily Blunt of "The Devil Wears Prada" fame is going to play the role of female villain in Jon Favreau's upcoming sequel ‘Iron Man 2’. She is likely to portray Natasha Romanoff, a Soviet spy also known as Black Widow, a bad girl wearing a high-tech black costume.

The poster of Miley Cyrus’s 'Hannah Montana: The Movie'


Miley Cyrus, the 16-year-old teenage singer/actress is starring in the film ‘Hannah Montana: The Movie’ in the lead role. The flick is being directed by Peter Chelsom of "Serendipity" and "Shall We Dance” fame. The script was written by Dan Berendsen. This new movie is an adaptation of the popular American television series ‘Hannah Montana’. The film also stars Emily Osment, Mitchel Musso, Jason Earles, Billy Ray Cyrus and Moises Arias in the other roles. Supermodel Tyra Banks is also plaing a cameo role in the film.

The film is about Miley Stewart, the popular teenager who leads a secret life as a singer. As her popularity threatens to take over her life, Miley decides to return to her hometown of Crowley Corners, Tennessee, where she hopes to rediscover herself. Walt Disney Pictures is distributing the film and is set to release on 10th April, 2009.

Sandra Bullock follows man in 'All About Steve'


The film ‘All About Steve’ starring Sandra Bullock, Bradley Cooper and Thomas Haden Church in the lead roles is directed by Phil Traill. The script has been written by Kim Barker. It’s a comedy film new comedy and Bullock is playing the role of an eccentric crossword puzzler who stalks a television cameraman (Bradley Cooper) all across the country.

20th Century Fox is distributing the film and is set to release on 6th March, 2009.
Bullock’s upcoming films include Anne Fletcher's "The Proposal," which is set to open June 12, 2009.

Amanda Seyfried, Julianne Moore and Liam Neeson and to star in 'Chloe'


Julianne Moore, Liam Neeson and Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia!) have been signed up to star in a thriller film titled ‘Chloe’. Atom Egoyan of "Where the Truth Lies" and "The Sweet Hereafter" fame is directing the film. Erin Cressida is the script writer for this film. Jason Reitman, Ivan Reitman and Tom Pollock are producing the flick. The film is going to start in February, 2009.

The movie is about a doctor (Moore) who appoints an escort (Seyfried) to test her husband's (Neeson) reliability.

Moore’s upcoming films include "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee", "A Single Man" and "Shelter." Neeson will be next seen in Oliver Hirschbiegel's "Five Minutes of Heaven".
